Thangool State School is committed to exploring new ways to give children in our community a great start to life and improve wellbeing prior to school. We recognise the ongoing role that families play in children's learning and development and building children's capabilities. We recognise playgroups are an important component of prior-to-school services available to children and parents/carers to support children getting a great start.
Thangool's community-based playgroup is co-ordinated through Playgroup Queensland and is run out of their playgroup facility located at the Thangool Rec Reserve. On the last Wednesday of the month (school terms), playgroup is conducted at Thangool State School.
This provides benefits to families and to the school, assisting families to become familiar with the school environment, building relationships with staff and community, and supporting children's development as happy and successful lifelong learners.
At Thangool State School, playgroup is a regular, informal gathering of pre-school age children and parents/carers to develop and learn together through play and community engagement. We provide opportunities for children to participate in age appropriate play-based activities that maximise learning and the development of social and emotional wellbeing during the critical period from birth to five year
